From Digital Vulnerability to Comprehensive Digital Safety

Imagine the expensive and time-consuming task of trying to recover and restore compromised files, sensitive information and other digital assets.

Safeguarding your data and privacy is essential, and many organisations have contractual and legal requirements when it comes to information security. But the mitigation of cyber risk and protection against vulnerabilities comes with many challenges and attacks come in many forms.

There’s ransomware, pharming, phishing, denial-of-service, spyware, malware, viruses, and more. It is expensive and time-consuming to keep track of, let alone defend from all these threats.

Imagine if cybersecurity solutions were as easy as locking a car door. With SecurityBase, you can focus on what you do best with the confidence and peace of mind that your digital assets are safe.

Straightforward Security Solutions

For most people, the cybersecurity industry is obscure and confusing. At SecurityBase we make information security straightforward and achievable with comprehensive solutions and simple gadgets anyone can use.

SecurityBase’s Cybersecurity Webshop

During his consulting work, clients noticed that he used several simple gadgets to improve his own digital safety, such as a webcam cover, USB data blockers, and RFID defendcer cards. They would ask about these tools and where to get them.

Unfortunately, the only way to get your hands on these in Australia had been to import them with high shipping costs, quality issues, and unverifiable suppliers. With our webshop, you have the assurance that your products will be solutions and not just trinkets.

The ongoing aim of SecurityBase is to make information security and digital best practices easy and actionable for businesses.

SecurityBase And Creating Better Cybersecurity Solutions

SecurityBase was founded in 2019 as part of an MBA project by the founder, Nick Riemsdijk MBA, CISM, CPP. For his MBA, he did research into the impact of cybercrime on Australian businesses.

He found that many businesses find cybersecurity a difficult topic, and many of them decided not to do anything about it, because they did not understand either the risk or the simplicity of some solutions to improve digital safety. Small- and medium-sized businesses are especially vulnerable because they often don’t have in-house knowledge or a budget to improve their information security.

Founding SecurityBase For Better Information Security

Before he came to Australia in 2016, Nick was working as a security advisor for the Department of Justice and Safety in The Netherlands. In 2015, he was asked to research the safety of the new “smart locks” on the market.

Through this project, he found that while new technologies make our lives so much easier, they also introduce new vulnerabilities and risks.

Over the next few years, Nick honed his cybersecurity skills. When he took an ethical hacking course and learned how to hack a network in minutes using an $80 device easily available on the internet, he realised that many businesses were ill-equipped to protect themselves.

Nick began to expand the scope of his information security work, completing cybersecurity risk assessments for 100+ businesses, and running projects such as gap-analysis, ISMS policy development, audits and awareness campaigns through central banks, utility providers, and city councils.

Certified Physical And Information Security Experts

Aside from completing courses in Physical Security Technology, Security Management and Legal Aspects in Security,  Nick also acquired formal education at the University of Adelaide (MBA), RMIT in Melbourne (Strategic Cyber Security and Risk), and various other organisations.

Nick is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) with ISACA, a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with ASIS International and a Lead Implementer for ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), and Lead Auditor for ISO 27001 (Information Security). He is also a certified PROSCI certified Change Practitioner.
