Car Tracker Manual

Thank you for choosing the SecurityBase Car Tracker! 

This car tracker works with Apple Find My and is designed to help you locate your vehicle using the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Requirements

  • iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  • Apple ID signed in to iCloud
  • Find My enabled
  • Bluetooth enabled
  • A stable internet connection for setup

How it works

Your car tracker uses Apple’s Find My network to locate your vehicle. When the tracker is near an Apple device in the Find My network, its location is securely updated in the app. You can use the Find My app to:

  • View your tracker’s location
  • Rename the tracker
  • Play a sound to help locate it nearby
  • Enable notifications
  • Mark it as lost

Setup instructions

1. Plug the tracker in the OBD port or 12v plug (depending on the model)
Ensure the port is powered (car contact on).

2. Open the Find My app
On your iPhone, open the Find My app.

3. Add a new item
Tap the Items tab, then tap Add Item or the + symbol.

4. The tracker pops up in the app
Follow the on-screen prompts.

5. Name your tracker
Choose a name such as:

  • Car
  • Family Car
  • Work Vehicle
  • Van

You can also choose an emoji if you like.

6. Complete setup
Follow the prompts to complete the connection between the tracker and your Apple ID.

Once setup is complete, the tracker will appear in the Items tab of the Find My app.

Finding your car

After setup, open the Find My app and select your tracker from the Items tab. Here, you can:

  • See its last known or current location
  • Play a sound when nearby
  • Use Directions to navigate to it
  • Turn on Notify When Left Behind
  • Enable Lost Mode

Reset instructions

If you need to reset the tracker:

  1. Plug the tracker in and unplug it six times in a row while the car contact is on
  2. After the sixth time, the tracker will reset
  3. Once reset, it can be paired again through the Find My app like a new item

Important:

  • Perform the six plug/unplug actions in steady succession
  • After resetting, the tracker will no longer be linked to the previous Apple ID
  • You may need to add it again in the Find My app

Troubleshooting

The tracker does not appear in Find My

  • Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
  • Ensure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS version
  • Move the tracker closer to your iPhone
  • Restart your iPhone and try again
  • Reset the tracker by plugging it in and out six times, then try setup again

The tracker is not updating its location

  • Location updates depend on nearby Apple devices in the Find My network
  • If the vehicle is in an isolated area, updates may be less frequent
  • Check that the tracker is installed correctly and has power

I cannot add the tracker

  • Make sure the tracker is not still linked to another Apple ID
  • Reset the tracker and try again
  • Confirm that Find My is enabled on your device

Important notes

  • This tracker works with Apple Find My only
  • It is not GPS with live continuous tracking, but uses phones connected to the Apple Find My network instead
  • Performance may vary depending on the surrounding environment and nearby Apple devices

Safety and usage

  • Do not use the tracker for unlawful tracking or surveillance
